The Puentes Consortium is very excited to announce the award winners for the 2019 Visiting Scholars Grant Awards. Though Puentes Consortium received several amazing grant proposals from a diversity of subject areas, these chosen grant awardees and their research projects demonstrated exceptional depth and close alignment with the vision of Puentes Consortium. The winners are:
- Luis Guillermo Hernandez-Rojas from Tecnológico de Monterrey for the research project, EEG-based decoding of speech perception in cochlear implants users using Deep Learning algorithms
- Dr. Nicolas Pierre Foucras from Tecnológico de Monterrey for the research project, The contribution of Mexican immigrants in the U.S. to the development of their community of origin
- Dr. Jessica Campos from Universidad de las Américas Puebla for the research project, Carbon nanomaterials and carbon-based nanocomposites for energy storage
- Dr. Guy Emerson from Universidad de las Américas Puebla for the project, Security governance in global cities: Houston and Puebla
- Dr. Roberto Lozano from Universidad de Monterrey for the project, Cellulose unsaturated polyester resin: jute–glass fiber reinforced composite
- Dr. Juan Ignacio González from Universidad de Monterrey for the project, Immigrants and entrepreneurs: how Hispanic-Mexican businessmen and women create take off, evolve and transform business, as well as their environments of settlement and origin
- Daniel Prudencio from Rice University for the research project, Detecting inefficiencies in the allocation of public construction funds through directly allocated contracts – the case of pavement of streets in Mexico
2019 Visiting Scholars Grant Award Winners
